The Center for South Asian Studies at Kyoto University (KINDAS) , formerly the Center for the Study of Contemporary India at Kyoto Univerisity, was launched on 1 April 2010 with the aim of furthering our understanding of South Asia through interdisciplinary studies. It will conduct a research project ‘Integrated Area Studies on South Asia’ in collaboration with National Institutes for the Humanities (NIHU). We will serve as the Hub Research Center for the National network which consists of six Research Centers located at Kyoto University, The University of Tokyo, Hiroshima University, National Museum of Ethnology, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Ryukoku University.
